Journaling and Self-Reflection

A WEEK OF JOURNALS OF ALL KINDS

Day 1: Bullet Journals are mainly used to streamline your life. You can get creative with them but most follow a key that allows for easy recognition of tasks, thoughts, inspirations, and events. I enjoyed doing this because it did feel very organizing. There is not as much self reflection in this kind of journaling but is still a great stress reliever if you live a busy life.

Day 2: Prompted journals are great if you are starting out and don’t know where to begin or what to write about. They can be very self reflective because they often make you think about what is important to you or how things make you feel. I liked doing this for day 2 because I got to imagine what a perfect day would be amidst a stressful week of finals preparation and COVID-19 chaos.

Day 3: Day three was a traditional diary style journal where I just wrote about what I did and how I felt that day. It was reflective and helps with memory because you are recalling events and recognizing your emotions and linking them in your brain. I enjoy doing this on particularly busy or special days that I want to never forget.

Day 4: Art journals are very relaxing so I love to do this in the evening after having a busy or stressful day because it calms me and it makes you think about your priorities that day. This one I did as a more religious practice in which I thought about a bible verse. Pinterest has a lot of ideas for art journaling as well.

Day 5: This day was a video journal that you can view with the link below. I was less comfortable with this journal style because I don’t often do this but I could see how it could help with talking in interviews and being confident in yourself. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K7kUNQ8flYD5SWfsuw6eWvPCiw46km1N/view?usp=sharing

Day 6: This day I did something new also. I found online that commonly, people who read often keep a book journal. I actually really enjoyed this because the book I am currently reading is fiction but thought provoking and got my imagination going. I was able to self reflect on my own life because of this journal.

Day 7: Letter journals are a nice way to feel better if someone you love and would usually tell about your day or how you feel is unavailable. This type is great for extroverted people because you can feel like you are talking to a friend. I am in a long distance relationship and actually keep a shared journal that we send back and forth. Its a great journal practice if you like to look back on your journals later on.
