Links Page: In support of Journaling and other Self-reflective Practices

This site is a launching point for people to be able to connect with a group of people in their community who struggle with or are going through similar things as them. It is meant to connect people to a process of bettering themselves and inwardly reflecting and growing while in community with others. It offers a way to create an account, find a “tribe” and even links you to therapy online if you need it. This site is useful for me and my journaling project because it is a way to further better yourself and turn the inner reflection outward.

This site is a way for you to take your journal digital! It offers a free online journal for you to be able to journal at any time and save your work without wasting paper. For some people it is a really effective way of making journaling a part of their daily routine. The site offers template for different kinds of journaling as well so if you like to have separate journal for different aspects of your life this site would be perfect for you! They also make sure to keep your writing PRIVATE and have resources and tips for getting started.
This site is a meditation site. It allows you a way to self reflect in your mind, a practice often good for before you start journaling. The site has many useful tools including videos and an app for you to use. They provide research that backs up meditation as a healthy practice and show their credibility by mentioning their many users! I don’t think one can ever have enough time for personal growth and reflection so use this site to test out other ways of being mindful besides just journaling!

This is a site that publishes articles having to do with self-reflection. It is easy to navigate because it breaks the articles up into categories of “Mind”, “Body”, “Spirit”, “Relationships” and “Blog”. They focus on topics that revolve around personal growth and self-reflection and encourage mindfulness. The site is called “A Conscious Rethink”. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and has fun activities like personality quizzes on the site as well, recognizing that these things can be a good launching point for self reflection but don’t claim to be scientific tests. I think for someone exploring journaling these short blogs and articles can be a good way to ease into it.

Journaling, wellness, etc. can be so subjective and people swear by all kinds of practices. This site is a platform for researchers and a place to gain credible information about subjects that involve science and health. It has countless published articles and studies done by credible researchers and gives people a way to really understand why humans are effected by certain things. This link takes you to an article by the Frontiers in Psychology about the ways self-reflective reasoning plays a central role in the development of the self using a scientific experiment that links this with decision making. For people interested in the science behind the practices of journaling, I’d recommend some light reading!

This site is a youtube channel. For people who don’t like to sit and read and find information that way, youtube is an incredible resource. This channel has prompts, shows her journaling process, gives advice on what supplies, and is a place for journaling community. Her videos are meant to be calming for if you want to journal along with her as well. I think youtube searching “journaling” and finding ideas and channels that way can be a great place to start as well because there are videos for every target audience and you can see the people in the videos so it can be more interesting than simply reading about journaling on your own. Men who journal often start here!
